However, despite its current success, Tesla Motors almost didn't come into being. Founder and CEO Elon Musk has recounted in interviews how he had hoped to encourage AC Propulsion to develop their tzero model into a more viable product. When they declined, Musk and others took the tzero design and transformed it into Tesla's first model, the Roadster.

Tesla's Alternative World is Here and Now
February 10, 2016 | ProgressTH US-based electric car company Tesla Motors set out with a goal to usher in an era of electric driven transportation using renewable sources of energy. It was founded in 2003, and 13 years later it looks well on its way toward achieving that goal.
Today, supercharger stations crowd a map of the United States, with similar coverage planned for Europe and Asia. The company has produced 3 successful models, the Roadster, the Model S, and most recently the Model X. Each car was designed to help develop the electric car market in a very specific way both financially and technologically with each model being progressively cheaper and more capable, and thus more accessible to a wider range of people.

Transportation for All -- BTS Breakthrough
January 22, 2015 Usually at a court hearing, there is a definite winner and a definite loser. Rarely does everyone walk away better off than when they started. But just such a rare case has occurred in Bangkok, Thailand where a dedicate group of activists fighting for better accessibility for the handicapped won a court decision that will see additional lifts constructed across Bangkok's elevated train system known as the BTS Skytrain.
When the BTS was constructed many years ago, there was an oversight that left many stations without any lifts at all, and many more with just one or two lifts despite multiple entrances and exits on different sides of busy streets and intersections. For years Thailand's handicapped and visitors from around the world would have to brave impassable traffic or haul their wheelchairs up flights of stairs or balance precariously on escalators -- all very difficult even with the help of station staff.
Not only did this pose an extra challenge for people already at a disadvantage, it reflected poorly both on Thailand's mass transportation system and Thailand's attitude toward the handicapped and issues of accessibility in general.
For the BTS, in the wake of this week's decision, this will no longer be the case. The court decision has untied the hands of BTS executives restricted by budgetary and other constraints, and will allow them to join a thankfully growing club around the world that takes accessibility seriously. Not only does full accessibility make a difference in the lives of those confined to wheelchairs or otherwise disabled, it reflects well upon the humanity of those maintaining essential public infrastructure like Bangkok's Skytrain.

Accessibility + Mass Transit in Bangkok
January 12, 2015 A nation's mass transportation system is a source of national pride. In many countries, these systems can even be seen featured on currency. They are modern marvels of engineered infrastructure contributing to the convenience and prosperity of the people and businesses that use them. But what about people unable to use them? What about their convenience and prosperity?

But for those bound to wheelchairs or otherwise unable to negotiate the stairs and escalators greeting commuters at BTS and MRT stations, accessibility is a serious problem.
English version here

Improving Thailand's Rail Crossings
December 2, 2014 Accidents at several Thai train crossings has prompted the Ministry of Transportation and the State Railway of Thailand to mobilize resources to solve the problem. This however may take some time considering the number of crossing there are across the country.
Is there anything we can do until each crossing is addressed? Are there simple and cheap solutions communities can work out that can make crossing safer today? That's what Progress Thailand is trying to find out.
Some crossing lack even a proper rail crossing sign and feature only a "stop" sign. A sign could easily and cheaply be made and fixed on existing stop sign posts.
Some existing signs are old and faded while others are placed ambiguously, confusing drivers especially at night. In other cases, vegetation has overgrown signage and signals and could easily be cleared in an afternoon by volunteers.
We have picked a crossing in Phetchaburi province that has been the sight of at least two terrible accidents. After asking for permission to place proper signs there until the Ministry of Transportation puts a proper gate, lighting, and audio signals in place, we plan on showing others how they can do likewise in their provinces. Our proposal has already been approved and the next step is making the signs and putting them up.

Bangkok's MRT & BTS: One Card to Rule Them All...
Wouldn't it be nice if if you could keep one card and use it for all of Bangkok's mass transit systems? A petition starter at Change.org Thailand thought so and began a petition to put some pressure on policy makers to to do just that.
The Rabbit card can already be used on the BTS Skytrain, as well as in participating retailers and restaurants. Is it possible to include the MRT into the growing list of goods and services accessible via the Rabbit card?
We've tried personally to contact Rabbit but with little success. They are a big company with lots to do, so it will probably take more than one e-mail to get their attention. In addition to signing the Change.org petition, you might want to try to contact them yourself.
